Fish tales is now one of my favorite spots in Richmond Hill Useful. Ive been twice since relocating back to GA from Florida. Food was good though and the view is spectacular. Great spot on the water in Richmond Hill. I highly doubt that a restaurant in Georgia has no vinegar, but I ate on. I asked for vinegar and she told me they didn’t have any. ![]() She brought me a shell bucket and knives (one of which broke) and some saltines. ![]() I had to ask the server for a knife and she ran off before I could ask for vinegar. No oyster knife, no towels, no butter, lemon, anything. With lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles & fries. Our famous white fish served fried, grilled or blackened w/ lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles & fries. My steamed oysters came out in just a bucket. Flour tortillas filled w/ our fish fingers & summer slaw. Our appetizer came out quickly I had to go ask the server for silverware and then wait while she went to roll some. Our server very much gave the impression “we’re gonna get you out as quick as possible.” She ended up making multiple trips for us for various things because she wouldn’t be still long enough to hear our requests. We were seated promptly and greeted very quickly. We loved the food, we loved the setting, the waitstaff was quick and eager to please - if we lived in the area, we'd go as often as our friends do.Not sure if they were just having a bad night but I expected the service to be much better. or Restaurants and Provisions There is dining at Fish Tales (3203 Fort McAllister Road, Richmond Hill 91) near the state park. My husband's grouper was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Everything was very, very good! So many restaurants overcook shrimp, but Fish Tales' fried shrimp was just right. Between the four of us, we ordered conch fritters (this was the only thing we probably wouldn't order again - they were just okay), a bucket of steamed oysters, a fried fish and shrimp combo, the blackened grouper, and fantail shrimp. Even though they were busy, our service was fast and friendly. It was pretty busy as they were setting up outside for a 9 PM fireworks show - lots of folks at the bar, in the restaurant, and outside on the patio. It's right on the river, at Fort McAllister Marina - beautiful setting and a nice little building. They're not and it's a real shame because Fish Tales truly has all the makings of a wonderful destination for good food and entertainment. It is apparent to me that Fish Tales does not depend upon its restaurant for its income otherwise, they would be taking care of business. I hope it's the prior because people can be taught to cook. I think Fish Tales must have a chef who either literally does not know how to cook or does not care. Our mixed vegetables were unfortunately overdone. My other dining companion had the steamed shellfish and he said it was fine but it would have been so much better if it wasn't so greasy. It may have started out as a great piece of chicken but it came to our table tough and dry as any chicken I've ever tried. One of my fellow diners ordered baked chicken and it was virtually inedible. Obviously they do not know how to make blackened fish. We were all surprised and I didn't quite know what to say.
